Venturi acquires Voxan

A couple of weeks ago Voxan sold off its assets, as reported in an earlier article. With this it seemed the name Voxan would feature on motorcycles no more, but now it is reported that the company has been bought by Venturi, the Monaco based manufacturer of electric cars.

With the acquisition Voxan has received an unexpected second lease of life. Both companies shared the same designer in Sacha Lakic and it seems Venturi sees other synergies exist. The company current line-up include solar paneled vehicles and electric-powered sports cars.

Venturi hopes to produce Voxan badged electric motorcycles within 3 years. Voxan will benefit from Venturi’s expertise in electric propulsion. Production is planned at the assembly plant in SablĂ©-sur-Sarthe. The company sees Voxan still operate in the Sports segment of the market, albeit with a very different power supply.

As mentioned in Venturi’s press statement:

The take-over will propel VOXAN towards the future of mobility : the magnificent bikes it has produced until now will remain “collectors’ pieces”, a strong image on which the brand will continue to rely in order to evolve towards electric propulsion

Venturi on the other hand has acquired a company with expertise in motorcycles with very distinctive designs and interesting engineering solutions. It is set to join the ranks of electric motorcycle producers such as Brammo, Mission Motors and Zero Motorcycles.
