Car OEMs enter Motorcycle realm?

With modern metropolises becoming more and more congested, OEMs are looking into new ways to power their vehicles by way of hybrid technology, battery-powered vehicles and hydrogen fuel cells. But now it seems OEMs are also looking at different modes of transport such as the scooter. Both Mini and Smart showed off their new electric scooters at the Paris Motor Show and seem to redefine their respective companies as mobility providers rather then mere car manufacturers.
Mini will introduce a scooter with two wheel-hub mounted electric motors and uses lithium-ion batteries. Three variants will be shown and performance will include a top speed of 60km/h and a range of about 100km.
