BMW striking Concept C scooter

BMW has shown a new concept called the Concept C scooter which aims to combine the stability of a motorcycle and the agility and practicality of a scooter. With scooters already on the market it is closest in concept to the Yamaha T-Max. Find a gallery and video after the jump.

Car OEMs enter Motorcycle realm?

With modern metropolises becoming more and more congested, OEMs are looking into new ways to power their vehicles by way of hybrid technology, battery-powered vehicles and hydrogen fuel cells. But now it seems OEMs are also looking at different modes of transport such as the scooter. Both Mini and Smart showed off their new electric scooters at the Paris Motor Show and seem to redefine their respective companies as mobility providers rather then mere car manufacturers.

IED Designs for Ducati

Ducati, always a design-led company, has teamed up with the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) of Turin to collaborate on a thesis project with the Transportation Design students.

The company will benefit from such collaboration with fresh thinking from the students and the students gain valuable work experience within a realistic design brief.

The actual brief reads as follows:

Identify the recognizable signs of the future Ducati, using them to design a Ducati motorbike able to live with the current Monster, but not to replace it

BMW HP KUNST concept

This striking concept for a BMW was conceived by a small team of design students at ISD of Valenciennes in France. The minimalist design incorporates a hydrogen fuel cell with a Li-Po battery. The fuel cell is positioned at an angle where traditionally the engine would be. The bike features both front and rear single sided swing arms that incorporate electromagnetic suspension. Like more traditional BMW’s it uses a shaft drive but is powered by a 100 kilowatt motor.

Hybrid Motorcycle Concept Izh

This concept for a hybrid motorcycle was conceived by Russian designer Igor Chak. The design is a comprehensive vision in terms of safety and technological features. It has a navigation system, augmented reality and provides interactivity with mobile devices. In terms of safety features, the bike is conceptualized to have dual airbags, ABS, a deformable front-fork designed to dissipate energy in a crash and a night vision/radar system.
